How Fire-IT (PTY) Ltd collects, uses, stores and protects personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Last updated · July 2026
Fire-IT (PTY) Ltd (“we”, “us”) is a managed IT solutions provider based at Unit 4, 36 Regency Drive, Route 21 Business Park, Centurion, Gauteng 0178, South Africa. We are the responsible party for personal information processed through this website and our services.
You can reach our information officer at support@fire-it.co.za or 012 004 0615.
Information you give us directly, such as your name, company, email, phone number and the details you include when you request a quote, check coverage or contact us.
Technical information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, through our own first-party analytics, our web server logs and Google Tag Manager / Google Ads.
We run our own first-party analytics to understand how this website is used, so we can improve it. For each visit we record the pages viewed, the tools used (such as the coverage checker, domain search and pricing tools), approximate location, device type and a one-way hashed version of your IP address.
Our analytics records hold that hash rather than the address itself. It is salted with a secret value, so it lets us recognise repeat visits from the same connection without us being able to work back to your IP address. That applies to analytics. Where you send us an enquiry, we do store the address itself, as set out under “IP addresses” below.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also keep the specific terms you enter into these tools, including the addresses you search in the coverage checker and the coordinates of the point you confirm on the map, so we can see where demand is and plan our network. If you decline, we stop storing those search terms and stop linking your visits together over time, but we still count the visit itself and still record the hashed form of your IP address.
This analytics data is kept for 180 days and then automatically deleted. It is never sold, and it is used only to improve our website and services.
The coverage checker asks you to confirm a point on a map before it scans. You can move the pin, and if you do, the point we scan is the one you placed rather than the one the address search guessed.
If you go on to send us a coverage enquiry, we keep that confirmed point (its latitude and longitude), the address it resolves to, a satellite image of the point and the carriers that were available there. We need them to confirm what a carrier can actually deliver at that spot and to scope the installation, so they are kept with your enquiry as a business record rather than under the 180-day analytics window above.
We do not share that point with anyone beyond the carriers we have to ask in order to answer your enquiry.
We do record IP addresses. Every request to this website carries the IP address your internet connection is using, and we keep it in three ways for three different reasons.
We also hold IP addresses briefly in memory to rate limit our forms and tools, which is what keeps automated abuse off them. Those counters are discarded within minutes and are never written to our database.
We process IP addresses on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping this website, our network and our services secure. We do not use them to build advertising profiles, we do not sell them, and we do not try to identify you from them beyond the security purposes set out here.
To respond to your enquiries, prepare quotes, check service feasibility and deliver the services you request.
To improve our website and services, and (where you have consented) to send you relevant updates. You can opt out at any time.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and least-privilege administration.
Production and backup data is hosted in South African data centres (Teraco Johannesburg and ADC Midrand).
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for service delivery or legal requirements, including RICA records, billing and account information, and records we must keep for regulatory compliance. Information no longer required is securely deleted.
An IP address recorded with an enquiry is kept for as long as we keep that enquiry record. Web server logs are rotated and deleted on a short cycle.
Under POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to certain processing. Contact our information officer to exercise these rights.
