75 TB in a month, on a gigabit they could finally use

What we found

• A 1 Gbps service that delivered a fraction of a gigabit in practice, from a national provider.
• Most of their traffic leaves South Africa, and international is exactly where shaping and contention bite hardest.
• Nothing on the invoice explained the gap, because the contention ratio is rarely the number a provider leads with.

What we did

• Moved them onto a dedicated 1:1 line. The capacity is theirs alone: not shared with other customers, and not shaped.
• Delivered through our own rack at Teraco Cape Town, so the handoff into their building is ours rather than a reseller's.
• Sized around international traffic specifically, which is where the previous service had been falling over.

What changed

• 75 TB moved in a single month, on a line they had previously struggled to fill.
• The full gigabit usable, including on traffic leaving the country.
• 1:1 means what it says: no other customer is sharing that capacity, so the rate does not change with the time of day.
